Message from our Warden
Dear Fresher Faradonians,
A very warm welcome to Faraday Hall (the best hall on campus!). My name is Dr Caroline Meyer and as Warden I am responsible for the welfare, safety, health and discipline of all Faraday students.
The Warden and Sub-Warden team are here to help make your life easy and enjoyable throughout your time at University. Our aim is to ease the transition from home to University and hope to provide a welcoming atmosphere throughout your time in Faraday.
With a hall of over 300 students, meeting you all will take us some time. With this in mind we organise High Tables which are popular formal dinners with fellow residents and involve a reception drink. We also organise other fun social events throughout the year with the aim of creating a communal spirit for our residents whilst also making Faraday stand out from all the other halls such as Burns Night and Grace Dieu Awards Night. It is important that we get to know all our Faradonians so please introduce yourself at any time.
University should be as comfortable as possible. If you feel distressed or just feel something isn\'t right, please contact either myself or the subwardens for an informal and confidential chat. We can arrange access to a number of University services including counselling, careers and mental health support amongst other welfare services. It is also our responsibility to respond to hall emergency situations as your health and safety is paramount. Each week you will receive a copy of the Sub-warden duty rota via email.
You will soon realise that, although the Warden\'s team may seem scary at first, we are extremely approachable and can help you in a number of ways. Almost every day, I will be at breakfast and tea, along with my family, who live with me in Faraday Lodge. So please do feel able to come over and say Hello.
Not only is Faraday my home (and that of my family and the subwardens), it will also be your home: a place to work, relax and have fun but if you want to get the best from hall life, the key advice from the Warden\'s team is to get involved!
Once again, welcome to Faraday Hall, and wish you the very best for your time here at Loughborough.
Caroline and the Sub-wardens.
