Wardens letter

Dear Fresher Faradonians,

A very warm welcome to Faraday Hall (the number 1 hall!). My name is David Ralph and as Warden I am responsible for the welfare, safety, health and discipline of all Faraday students.

The Warden and Sub-Warden team are here to make your life easier throughout your time at University. Our aim is to ease the transition from home dweller to hall reveller and hope to provide a welcoming atmosphere throughout your time in Faraday.

With a hall of over 300 students, meeting you all may take us some time. With this in mind we organise fortnightly High Tables which are popular formal dinners with fellow residents and a welcome drink. We also organise other fun social events throughout the year with the aim of creating a communal spirit for our residents whilst also making Faraday stand out from all the other halls such as the annual Faraday Golf Day, Burns Night and Grace Dieu Awards Night. It is important that we get to know all our Faradonians so please introduce yourself at any time.

University should be as comfortable as possible. If you feel distressed or just feel something isn’t right, please contact us for an informal and confidential chat. We can arrange access to a number of University services including counselling, careers and mental health support amongst other welfare services. It is also our responsibility to respond to hall emergency situations as your health and safety is paramount. Each week you will receive a copy of the Sub-warden duty rota via email.

You will soon realise that, although the team may seem scary at first, we are extremely approachable and can help you in a number of ways. So please realise the potential of the Warden and Sub-warden team and help us make your stay in Faraday as comfortable as possible.

Faraday Hall will be your home: a place to work, relax and have fun but if you want to get the best from the number 1 hall our best piece of advice is to get involved!

Once again, I welcome you to Faraday Hall, and wish you the very best for your time at Loughborough.

David Ralph and the Sub-wardens
