Intramural Sport (IMS), is a free programme of sport available to all students at Loughborough University! There are over 40 different sports to get involved in, everything from football and rugby to canoeing, fencing and even 10 pin bowling!
Each Hall of Residence has its own sports secretaries (sports secs) who organise all the teams for that hall. In Faraday, Josh Hill and Rob Taylor are in charge of male teams, Hannah Chrisp and Ella Hewton the female.
Hall of residence teams compete in each sports league or event throughout the year and are awarded points dependent on their final position in each. These points are added up at the end of the year and the overall winner will win the coveted title of IMS Champions.
IMS sport is for all to get involved in, whether you are an elite sports man or woman and want to try your hand at something new, or if you played a sport at school and want to carry it on: everyone is welcome. The only rule is if you play a sport for the Uni, you can't play that same sport for IMS.
Faraday has a strong tradition of success in IMS and this year (2009/10) we have continued our dominance by winning the Mens, Womens and Overall IMS for the SECOND year in a row. This success really shows the strength and unity of Faraday with our second IMS title came alongside winning a total of 12 events including tennis, hockey and cricket. We also won the title of "Best Supported Hall". This years success can be progressed through the new 09/10 IMS facebook group
here.
This year the Faraday sports secs are keener than ever to bring the trophy back to Faraday, where it belongs!
Ask Josh, Rob, Hannah or Ella for more details and get involved!!!
