The committee, together as a team, organise hall functions and generally act of behalf of all hall members. The committee will deal with complaints and suggestions from the students on hall matters that are within its powers. The committee will seek to represent every single member of Faraday and it’s main aim as an organisation is to ensure that each and every Faraday student has an enjoyable time whilst they are living in halls.
If you are considering going for committee I would urge you to go for it! Being on committee is one of the best things you can do during your time in Faraday. You will meet tonnes of new people, enjoy a position of responsibility, get involved in massive things within Faraday such as Freshers week, Inter-hall competitions and Socials as well as being a huge CV boost!
The following is a list of the job roles that each position undertakes. If you have any further questions, ask anyone on committee and they will be happy to answer them. Sign up sheet will be up in the dining hall from Tuesday 8th November.
Secretary:
• To organise and report results of all committee elections
• To record all of the minutes from every hall committee meeting (including H.G.Ms) on appropriate electronic device and distribute via email to all members of the hall
• To organise the hall photo and it’s distribution
• To be a signatory for cheques concerning hall finance
• To issue weekly job lists to the committee as requested by the chair
• To ensure the hall constitution is annually reviewed and amended.
Social Secreatary:
• To organise social events for the Hall at least once a month
• To organise special Hall events including the Christmas and Summer balls, Freshers Week and Re-freshers week.
• To liase closely with other committee members for certain events e.g finalists representatives r.e the Christmas cabaret.
• To Attend Social secretaries meetings
Sports (Male and Female)
• To find and select captains and coaches for all the IMS sports to aid their team selections
• To organise and book trials and practises for all IMS teams
• To organise other recreational sport within Faraday e.g inter block events
• To look after and take responsibility for all sports equipment
• To be involved in the promotion of sport from IMS to recreational level
• To attend Sports Secretaries meetings
FREEC Representative
• To liase with Halls and Catering in the University, the Hall chef and supervisor to deal with feedback from students and deliver this to Imago staff.
• To promote and participate in the energy league. Organise events such as blackouts, encourage recycling and promote the environment.
• To maintain the common room including all equipment within it.
Rag Representative
• To organise Hall Rag Raids including collecting permits, buses, collecting pots etc.
• To ensure the submission of money collected to RAG
• To attend RAG council meetings
• To promote all RAG events organised externally by the union e.g choose a challenge
• To organise and promote RAG week each year
Media Representative
• To organise, design and sell Faraday Hall magazine to be distributed each term
• To aid committee members in publicising events e.g sports events, Socials, Rag Raids, through posters.
Stash Representative
• To design, order and sell Faraday Merchandise at least once a term.
• To design and order the Freshers tshirts for 2012
• To design order and sell Faraday sports stash (excluding IMS tops)
